‘Nothing Bad is Going to Happen’ keeps readers enthralled

Author Kathleen Hale has done it again with the sequel to her previous book, “No One Else Can Have You.” The reader is taken through the mental recovery of the main character in the book, Kippy Bushman, while she has to deal with school starting up and an incident involving her boyfriend.

If you are a lover of murder mysteries, then the book “Nothing Bad is Going to Happen” is a perfect read for you. It throws so many curveballs, you won’t be able to put the book down because you’ll always want to find out what happens next right away.

In the beginning of the book, Kippy discovers her boyfriend, Davey, on the floor in his home, surrounded by empty beer cans and pill bottles. Cops believe that it was an attempted suicide, but Kippy knows otherwise. A stalker that tried to murder her in “No One Else Can Have You” sends her a message that says, “I sent you a present, Kippy, and it’s a big one. You betcha. Don’t be scared, okay?” This message shifts Kippy’s main motive in the book into gear.

Kippy teams up with the popular girl at school, Libby, to gather clues to figure out the truth of what happened to Davey. I can’t say much more about the story because then I would spoil it, but let me just say that as soon as the book got into swing, I couldn’t put it down. I started and finished the book all in one day. I went from laughing to crying to stunned all in the course of 20 minutes.

While reading the book, you can try to guess who the killer is by using the clues that Kippy uncovers throughout the course of the book, but you won’t get it right. I can assure you of that. What happens in the end is something that you would never see coming.

I would rate this book a full five-out-of-five stars because it really caught my attention. I generally don’t like to read that often, but when I do, the book has to be very engaging and juicy to keep my interest throughout the entire thing, which this book succeeded in doing. So, if you are looking for a good mystery read, I would highly suggest that you read “Nothing Bad is Going to Happen.”
