St. Patrick’s Day Treats

March is a month of many exciting landmarks: the start of spring, the last quarter of the school year and spring break. However, March also is the time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17 in remembrance of the patron saint of Ireland. This holiday is celebrated in many different ways throughout the United States, and like most holidays, it is best celebrated through food. These simple St. Patrick’s Day-inspired treats are easy and fun to make for your friends and family.

Shamrock Pretzels

Ingredients:

  • Pretzels
  • White chocolate candy melts
  • Rolos (chocolate candy of choice)
  • Green food dye

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Configure three pretzels in the shape of a three-leaf clover and place a single chocolate covered candy in the center. Repeat until you have filled an entire baking sheet filled.
  • Heat in the over for four minutes or till the chocolate candy is slightly melted. Then take the treat out and let cool.
  • While the pretzels are cooling down, melt the white chocolate candy melts and add green dye till preferred color is made.
  • Once the pretzels are completely cooled, dip into the melted green chocolate, then place back on baking sheet and put in refrigerator.
  • Don’t forget to add personal flare by adding new details or sprinkles.

Nutter Butter Irishmen

Ingredients:

  • Nutter Butter cookies
  • White chocolate candy melts
  • Orange food dye
  • Green food dye
  • Black icing
  • Candy eyes

Instructions:

  • Melt chocolate candy melts and separate into two bowls. Add orange dye to one bowl and green dye to the other.
  • Begin by dipping the bottom and side of the Nutter Butter cookie in the orange chocolate to create a beard like design.
  • Once the orange chocolate is set, dip the opposite end of the Nutter Butter cookie into the green chocolate to form the shape of a hat. Let chocolate set.
  • Take black icing and create a band around the hat. Use left over chocolate as an adhesive for the eyes.
  • Feel free to add any personal touches to the delicious treat.
