Recipe for candied almonds

Food from the Washington Fair is something that many people enjoy. From funnel cakes to tornado potatoes, the options are endless, and one great snack that I always enjoyed were the candied almonds. Candied almonds have been one of my favorite foods from the Washington Fair since forever, and not only do they taste delicious, but they smell amazing, too. So if you simply can’t wait for the Fair to roll around to eat this sweet treat, you can simply make it at home yourself, and save money while doing so.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of unsalted almonds
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • Brown sugar (optional)

Directions:

1.) Combine the water, sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat and bring it to a boil.

2.) Once the mixture is boiling, add the almonds to the saucepan.

3.) Cook and stir the mixture until the liquid has evaporated, leaving the mixture a syrup-like consistency.

4.) Place the almonds on a baking sheet with wax paper and separate almonds using a fork. (You can choose to get rid of the leftover mixture or pour it on top of the almonds for extra syrup.)

5.) Allow to cool and enjoy! (You can also sprinkle brown sugar on top for extra sweetness and texture.)
