Music recently has been interesting to say the least. Many new artists came on the rise over the past year or so. However, this summer is seemingly set to feature some of the most popular musicians in the nation to release new music. 

Bruno Mars, one of music’s most popular artists over the past decade, surprised the world by releasing “Leave the Door Open” with Anderson .Paak. The forming of their new group “Silk Sonic” came with that single, as well as the announcement of an upcoming album. Though the date is not set yet, it is assumed that it will be released this summer or in late 2021. “Leave the Door Open” is currently number one in the country according to Billboard Charts. This is Mar’s sixth number one hit, and he is showing no signs of slowing down. The anticipation and expectations for this album upon release are very high. 

Beyond Bruno Mars, rapper Drake announced his newest album release called “Certified Lover Boy” last August. With the release date being pushed back from January, Drake said that the album would come out this summer. With the singles “What’s Next,” “Wants and Needs” and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” occupying the top three spots on the Billboard charts when they were released earlier this year, the EP “Scary Hours 2” was a great way to create anticipation for the album. This album will compete for the best selling album of the year and is going to more than likely have multiple hits that will be overplayed this summer. 

These previously established artists have been around for a while, but relatively newer artist Billie Eilish is set to release her new album “Happier Than Ever” on July 30. Her most successful hit “Bad Guy” and her very popular album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” have been dominating the mainstream music scene ever since they were released. Since just 2019, Eilish has won seven Grammys and has continuously been acclaimed as an amazing artist. With her new album, she has high expectations to match or do better musically than her last studio album. 

From pop music to rap music, Travis Scott has been heavily rumored to be releasing his album “Utopia.” It has been about three years since he released an album, making it likely that this project will come out by the end of the year. Many other superstar musicians are also due for an album, but we have heard no word of their release dates just yet. Rihanna has been pretty silent when it comes to releasing music since her last album “Anti” in 2016. It wouldn’t be surprising if an album was to be released either this year or 2022. Frank Ocean, coming off the classic album “Blonde” in 2016 is more than due to drop a new album. It would be a very plausible and pleasant addition to the summer of music for a new album from him. Other popular musicians like Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West are all aligning to release new projects potentially this year or the next. 

With a majority of music’s most popular stars on the verge of releasing new music, the summer of 2021 is destined to be filled with many hits. The amount of summer jams we could be on the verge of getting is unforeseeable currently but looking very positive. Get ready to roll the windows down in your car while listening to some of the new music being released this summer.
