Super Bowl Snacking

Super+Bowl+Snacking

With such a close ending score, this year’s Super Bowl was stressful as ever. The game isn’t the only stressor, especially for the hosts. Throwing a party is difficult enough, but when food and drink are such a massive part of the Super Bowl traditions, there is an enormous pressure to choose food that guests enjoy. Hopefully, these suggestions from fellow students will help the party planners of Super Bowl LVIII.

“My favorite snacks are potato skins,” junior Nicholas Gardner said. “I asked my mom to make them this year, which was a very wise choice.”

Other popular snacks include dips, from queso to Velveeta cheese dip. Junior Blake Deppe named seven different chip dips he enjoyed during the super bowl.

“I just really love good appetizers,” Deppe said.

A classic appetizer for the Super Bowl is chicken wings; over a billion wings are eaten each year on Super Bowl Sunday. This year 1.45 billion wings were eaten on the day of the game.

“I absolutely love sloshing on some boneless wings,” senior Emma McCary said. “I pair them with Dr Pepper or a Pepsi.”

Dr Pepper is an incredibly popular drink, multiple students agreed that it was their favorite Super Bowl soda.

Some viewers prefer the halftime show over the game itself, with around ten million people watching the halftime show instead of the entire game.

“My favorite drink during the halftime show is Sierra Mist,” Deppe said. “Rest in peace, 2023.”

The Super Bowl is an event that brings millions of people together, which warrants good food and drinks to celebrate with friends. These snacks are just a few of the beloved traditions associated with the game, but they make up a massive amount of the enjoyment of the Super Bowl.

“I love the Super Bowl because it helps me connect with my family,” McCary said. “It means a lot to us.”
