Assault cases being disregarded

Sexual assault and battery. Sexual harassment. Gender violence. Civil harassment. Violation of California’s unfair business laws. Intentional infliction of emotional distress. Negligent infliction of emotional distress. Negligent retention and supervision.

You just read all of the complaints for damages in the Kesha Rose Sebert v. Lukasz Sebastian “Dr. Luke” Gottwald case. Kesha has accused Dr. Luke of all of the offenses listed above and is trying to get out of her contract because of these allegations. There were eight complaints, and Kesha is still being forced to stay in the recording contract with Dr. Luke.

Assault doesn’t just happen sexually, although this case involved it. Assault is a concerted attempt to do something demanding. Every complaint Kesha issued involved this.

This day in age, women and men are being degraded for coming forward and saying they have been raped. There was liable evidence that this case should have gone a different direction.

Dr. Luke once had two tweets on his twitter account. One tweet included a photo of Kesha sleeping captioned, “Damn my artists work hard!!!!!!!!” After the complaints surfaced, the tweet was deleted. Another tweet was also posted in 2010 that said, “@keshasuxx … I’m worried about what THEY gonna do!!!!… from me (sic) just your usual spanking for being bad!!!! :-P”. This tweet was also deleted. These tweets being deleted has to mean something.

Yes, there are probably two sides to this story, but I truly do believe something is going on. I believe that Dr. Luke has hurt Kesha. Why would Kesha lie about something like that? If you say it was to get attention, that doesn’t make sense. She was already famous. Kelly Clarkson, who worked with Dr. Luke on songs like “Since U Been Gone” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” spoke out in support of Kesha. She tweeted, “Trying 2 not say anything since I can’t say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke”.

If this is made up and Kesha is lying, I would no longer side with her because rape is not a thing to joke about. However, she is obviously uncomfortable with Dr. Luke producing her music. How much could it truly hurt him to stop producing her music anyway? The last song that was produced with Kesha was Pitbull’s “Timber” in 2013. This song could have even been made without Kesha as it was actually Pitbull’s song.

This world needs to start listening to people and take every assault case as a true case, including men speaking out about being raped. Women aren’t the only sex that can be a victim of assault. This is not a joke. Everyone is “innocent until proven guilty,” so how badly could this harm someone to carry the case out. If the person is in fact guilty, would you rather the case be taken through and proven guilty or have them go around and hurt more people?  American singer and music producer, Brad Walsh, tweeted, “Forcing a woman to work with her rapist, or to work to profit her rapist, is a failure of justice. #freekesha”. I could not agree with him more. Measures need to be taken, and making Kesha continue to work with Dr. Luke is not the right thing to do.
