The adventures of the ‘Trolls’
The movie “Trolls” takes place in a mythical land that is invested with sad creatures known as Bergans that believe the only way they can achieve true happiness is by eating a troll. The trolls have to go on a crazy adventure to go save their friends, and on the way they teach others what true happiness is.
At the start of the movie, I found that the art of it was very different than any other movie. The characters look more realistic, but their surroundings look more like a fabric. While the movie continued, I slowly started to adapt to the art style and started to admire how creatively different the art style went with the characters.
I’m not a very big fan of singing movies, but this movie managed to balance it out. There is a character amongst the trolls that isn’t happy like the rest of them. He constantly interrupts them while they sing, giving more of a commercial appeal to the singing scenes. Also, the movie does a very good job with engulfing you in what’s going on.
On the other hand, the movie did tend to have some flaws I personally didn’t like. For an example, during the movie I found that some of the character models didn’t suit any of the other characters in the movie. Also, I didn’t like the fact that some of the songs they picked for the movie didn’t fit some of the scenes. Furthermore, throughout the movie there were some unnecessary scenes that really didn’t build off the main story and didn’t add any commercial appeal.
Altogether I would give the movie four stars out of five. It would be appealing to both adults and children, and would be a movie worth spending money to see. The movie balances the perfect amount of fancy and realism, and manages to make it interesting for any age.
