Willa Reust is a senior, and this is here third year on staff. Outside of newspaper, she enjoys listening to music, reading, spending time with her friends and practicing her viola.

Sophomore Olivia’s Courtney uses acrylics in many of her paintings. “[Art] also gives me an opportunity to listen to music,” Courtney said. “I dont like making art in silence, so I use music to fill that silence. [I feel] the mood of whatever song or album I choose, or certain lyrics that really strike me.” Courtney has recently been listening to the bands Death Grips and The Strokes to boost her creativity.

Senior Joette Brinker poses with their work. “To improve, critiques and experimentation have probably been the most helpful,” Brinker said. “Its always beneficial to hear what others have to say about your work, even if its not particularly something good about your work.” Brinker has recognition for their work, placing “best of show” at the Washington Fair, photography competitions and by earning a five on their AP Studio Art portfolio.

When spotting a poster, take a slip for yourself or for someone else. “They could help our school get more confident and grow more as a friends instead of just peers,” senior Olivia Emke said. The posters can be found on the walls around school on classroom doors, bathroom mirrors, near water fountains and more, so keep an eye out.

Senior Cory Hardesty signals plays to the Blue Jay offense Sept. 7, where the Blue Jays faced Warrenton. “It (football) made me feel involved,” Hardesty said. “I feel like I’ve contributed to helping other people too.” The senior football players will be recognized Oct. 19 at their last home game.

Moreland was seeded to swim 5:47.29 at State, but beat this expectation and swam her fastest time of the season.
