‘Five Five Apart’ leaves fans in tears

**SPOILER**

Will (Cole Sprouse) and Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) are two teenagers who spend most of their days in the hospital due to  Cystic Fibrosis, which is a disease that affects a person’s lungs and digestive system. They develop a friendship, even though they can’t be closer together than six feet because they could fatally infect the other even more, making the Cystic Fibrosis worse. Stella soon realizes that Will doesn’t take his treatments seriously, which bothers her very-organized self. So, knowing that Will is an artist, she makes a deal with him that if he will do his treatments with her, he can draw her.

Within the first few times of them hanging out, Will and Stella become almost inseparable as they FaceTime each other while they take their medication, go through treatments and bond about suffering from the same disease. As they grow closer, they get more and more irritated with the rule that they cannot be within six feet of each other. The closer they get, the more Will becomes worried that their friendship could harm the love of his life—Stella. While Stella, for the first time in her life, feels the restrictions of CF and craves to act on the feelings she has developed for Will. She has lived her life to do her treatment instead of doing her treatment to be alive. Stella tells Will that Cystic Fibrosis has taken so much from them, that they deserve to take something back. They decide they can take one foot back, thus making the rule that they can be five feet apart.

I personally loved this movie. I love cheesy, romantic movies, and I cried for half of it. Will and Stella have a once in a lifetime connection. They relate on a personal and private level, both having Cystic Fibrosis, and understand the deep struggles that come with the disease. I learned more about the consequences of Cystic Fibrosis and have a deeper appreciation for my own life and all the things I have been blessed with. Another main thing I took from this was to not settle for anything less than what you deserve. Surround yourself with people that make you happy and feel loved.
