Halloween Oreo bat balls are a spooky treat to celebrate the season.

With Halloween right around the corner, many people are searching for costumes or looking into buying candy for trick or treaters. Other people may be making plans with their friends to hang out or trying to decide where to hang out. If you want to spend time with friends, family or even by yourself and love sweets, you can try making Halloween-themed Oreo bat balls.

This recipe will take approximately one hour to make. To make these cute Halloween treats, you will need

  • 36 Oreos
  • 8oz. of cream cheese
  • 4oz. finely chopped chocolate
  • 1 cup of heavy cream.

For decorating, which is optional, you will need

  • black food gel
  • candy eyes
  • chocolate wafers (the cookie part of Oreos)
  • banana Runts

Directions:

  1. First you put the Oreos in a blender and finely chop them, then add the cream cheese and pulse to combine.
  2.  Next, shape the mixture into balls and place on a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze those for 10 minutes.
  3. To make the chocolate ganache, you will place the chopped chocolate in a medium bowl. Along with that, you need to heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until bubbling just around the edges.
  4. Pour the cream over the chopped chocolate, stir once, then let sit for five minutes. Next, stir again until completely melted and the mix has a smooth texture, then cover with plastic and let sit until slightly thickened (approximately 30 minutes).
  5.  To achieve a dark bat color, you need to add one or two drops of black food gel to the ganache and stir.
  6.  Next, dip the balls into the dark ganache mix and transfer to a wire rack. Then you will break the chocolate wafers in fourths and add them as “wings.” As shown in the picture, you can make wings out of chocolate.
  7.  Last but not least, add candy eyes and then banana Runts as your “teeth.”

In these Oreo bat balls, wings were made of chocolate rather than Oreo cookies. Also, no black food gel or banana Runts were used for decoration because they are optional in this recipe.

This recipe is a fun way to express your Halloween spirit, as well as to share at a party or even just enjoy with your family. Also, these Oreo treats can be made into other things with different decorations, such as “Christmas ornaments,” “Easter eggs” and whatever else comes to mind. Hope you enjoy!
