Third quarter is the most dreadful quarter for teachers and students. It is known for procrastination and lack of motivation. I am heavily guilty of this, maybe it’s a severe case of senioritis. However, I am here to help you (as well as myself) to find some motivation to make it through third quarter. Here are some ways that have benefited me:

1. Make a to-do list

Making a to-do list is something that constantly helps me go about my days. Even if I am completing a project, I always have to list out all of my steps and then cross them off as I go. It makes me feel more motivated because I feel like I am getting more accomplished.

2. Work in order

If you have large piles of work, something that I find helps me figure out where to start is working in order of your classes. After all, that’s the order you’re going to have to turn them in. Start with your first hour and work to seventh.

3. Designate a time to doing school work

I understand that it can be difficult to find a time to do your school work if you’re very involved in school, as well as having a job. It can become very overwhelming, very fast. I constantly feel like I am on the go between going to school at 8 a.m. every morning and not getting home until 6 p.m. every day. Therefore, I try to find a time to relax when I get home, but I also have to find the motivation to get back at it again at least for an hour before I start my nightly routine. If you’re still struggling to find time, discuss it with your teachers so they can work with you.

4. Work in study groups

Sometimes when all others fail, it is best to find motivation in others. Contact people that you are in classes with and find a time to have a study hall together. Not only is this beneficial to your school work needs, it uplifts your social needs as well.

I wish all of you the best of luck as third quarter is coming to an end. Lets finish the year strong.
