Snow Factory leaves savoring taste
The Delmar Loop is notorious for good music, busy nights and people that love to eat. Recently, the Loop has added a new shop that embraces all three of the things. The Snow Factory, located at 6602 Delmar Blvd, is a revolutionary new way to serve ice cream.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, on a spur of the moment instinct, I made the trip from Washington, Mo., to the Snow Factory. With a motto like “We love to make ice cream for the city that loves to eat,” the Snow Factory has gained popularity in the short time it has opened it’s doors.
When we finally made the right hand turn onto Delmar Blvd, traffic was heavy with people excited for a warm weekend off at the end of winter. It took us some time to actually find the Snow Factory, the sign out front isn’t very clear or eye-catching. Once inside, it was hard to miss.
The line wrapped around the small store, but the friendly atmosphere allowed hungry customers to enjoy the time spent together deciding what to eat and the three free toppings that came along with it. With 18 different options that range from basic flavors like chocolate and strawberry, to unique Thai-based flavors, the organic ingredients allowed for creativity in the ice cream deciding process. It took about an hour to order and get my chocolate ice cream with caramel syrup, roasted marshmallow and brownie on top masterpiece, but the whole experience made it worth it.
Overall, being able to watch the ice cream being rolled on the frozen plate, to experiencing firsthand the different culture of The Loop and getting to eat a brand new phenomenon, it made my Saturday off a great day. Next time you need to get out of the house for an afternoon, the Snow Factory is definitely the place to go.
