Washington, Missouri isn’t so boring after all
Washington, Mo. is a small town that sits on the Missouri River, otherwise known as the jewel of Franklin County. You may be wondering, “Well if the town is so small, what is there to do?” There’s actually more hidden under the surface than you might think.
The town is missing things that its neighboring towns have, such as a bowling alley or a skating rink; however, the residents of Washington make the best of their time and schedule interesting events all year long. If visitors are looking for something to do, they should head downtown. There are events centered around art walks, karaoke, live music and much more.
During the month of October there are haunted wagon tours that take you around downtown and tell you the spooky history of Washington. There is even a farmers market every Saturday where local vendors can sell their homemade and handmade goods.
But visitors and residents don’t just have to go downtown to find entertainment.
They could always have a day out shopping at any of the retail shops around town or could go and see a movie at Cinema 1 Plus. Or if they are out to lunch, they can go to any of the restaurants that are only in Washington: Streetside Tacos, Big Boys Grilled Subs and Wings, Cowan’s Restaurant, Marquart’s Landing, Pulque and The Washington Coffee Shop.
While this town may seem small and it may not look like much is going on, this town is always hustling and bustling and teeming with things to do. So, if you are ever bored and just want a relaxed day to taste, shop and vibe, come on down to historic Washington, Mo.
