Nathan Searcy in involved in Chess Club, Link Crew, National Honor Society, Weiss, Mu Alpha Theta, participated in Mr. WHS and is an Eagle Scout. In order to become an Eagle Scout, you must earn 21 merit badges. Searcy has earned all 137 merit badges possible. “Merit badges in themselves expand your knowledge of different careers and skills. From the job based badge, I found out that I want to be an engineer and create stuff and make a difference that way. I like charting new territory, finding out new things about myself and having fun with it. I found a love for the outdoors too,” Searcy said. “Scouting gave me my confidence and helped me find who I was. I came in as a young kid in 5th grade, kinda shy, not knowing many people, but it pushed me in different positions. Now I’m the Second Vice Chief of my chapter. It puts you out there and makes you want to make a difference and give back what you got out of the program.”
