Sweet treats for Easter
Easter is a time for great memories and even better treats. My family loves to spend time in the kitchen making treats to eat while we celebrate Easter. Here are some of our favorite goodies to help lift your spirits this Easter season.
Bunny Chow:
If you like puppy chow or muddy buddies, this treat is perfect for you.
Ingredients:
- 5 cups for rice Chex cereal
- 12 oz white chocolate
- ¼ cup vanilla pudding
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 bag of pastel or spring chocolate candies
Directions:
- Place the Rice Chex in a bowl.
- In another bowl, melt the chocolate.
- Once fully melted, combine with the pudding mix.
- Place mixture on the Rice Chex and combine until fully coated.
- Coat the Rice Chex with the powder sugar; the easiest way to do this is to place the Rice Chex in a Ziploc bag with the powder sugar then close and shake it.
- Place the fully coated bunny chow back in the bowl and top with the pastel candies.
Krispie Nests:
A fast recipe that is great for younger kids to help make.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
- 10 oz of marshmallows
- 3 tbsp. Butter
- 1 bag of chocolate eggs
Directions:
- Melt the butter in a pan on the stove.
- Stir in marshmallows until it is fully melted and smooth.
- Combine with Rice Krispies and stir until the cereal is fully coated.
- Take the mixture and put it in a mini muffin tin by placing a small amount in each of grooves to shape the nests.
- Once cooled, decorate the nests with chocolate eggs.
Carrot Patch Brownies:
Don’t be fooled by the name, these are actually just strawberries covered in orange chocolate placed on a brownie.
Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Orange chocolate melts
- Brownie mix
- Icing
Directions:
- Bake the brownies, following the directions on the box.
- While the brownies are baking, assemble the strawberries.
- Wash the strawberries and dry them, and keep the stems on.
- Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
- Hold the stem and dip the strawberries in the chocolate, coating them on each side.
- Place dipped strawberries on parchment paper and allow them to harden.
- When the brownies are done, cut them into circles.
- You can either put the brownie circles in a small cup and place the dipped strawberry on top or just stack two brownies on top of each other using icing in between to keep them from falling and place the strawberry on top.
- Serve and enjoy.
