As students progress through high school, some tend to develop bad habits. Their bad habits are mostly school-based caused by lack of time, being overworked and not caring as much as they should. Each student’s future is different from one another but most bad habits are the same. Turning bad habits into something good can make a huge difference in developing a future they would like to live.
First, the most common habit among high school students is procrastination. Many students will procrastinate because they think they have more time than what is offered. It’s easy to become distracted by friends, events, sports and other activities. Yes, those things are important, that’s why a balanced schedule needs to be created. This way someone is able to do the activities they love while also having the time to study for an important test. When there is balance, there is a routine/schedule, after both are established the tendency to procrastinate is less.
Next, another habit that is present in most students’ lives is created in the classroom. Students will come unprepared and not pay attention to what is happening. When coming unprepared for class or not paying attention, people then start to not care enough over time. This habit will create stress and set up anyone for failure. Most people expect good grades, relationships and environment when it comes to school. Yet, those expectations won’t be fulfilled if no one is willing to put in the work to do so. Come prepared for class, and pay attention, many lessons are learned through others teaching people.
Now, these are only a couple of bad habits that are out there. These are easy to create, but being proactive about it and acknowledging them can lead to good ones. Change takes time, so converting bad habits into good habits will take time. But, the result will be one worth fighting for.
