On Sat. April 9, a Bark for Life event was held to raise money and awareness for Relay for Life and cancer research. On the front parking lot of Hillerman’s Nursery and Florist various vendors set up booths for the public to come and buy things for dogs and humans like. It cost ten dollars to bring a dog which included a tee-shirt.

“This is our fourth year doing this here at Hillerman’s,” founder Rhonda Mueller said. “Relay for Life is very important to our friends and family and what better way to get involved than with dogs.”

The event featured many different businesses selling various items like dog bowls, dog clothes and even hot dogs. Most of the items for sale were sold for donation which then was directly transferred to the Relay for Life foundation. Free haircuts and nail trimming were also offered for dogs.

This event was the fourth year that Mueller with the help of Hillerman’s sponsored the event. Plans are underway for next year’s event.

“We have been doing this for awhile and plan on doing it next year,” Mueller said. “The event will fall based on Easter 2017.”
